Daley Hub enables Big Retail

When upcycling and restoration specialist, Furniture Clinic was looking to add multiple retailers to its chosen sales routes to the UK consumer, it turned to Daley Hub to help open the necessary doors. One year later and the company is well on its big retail journey with product variously being shipped, onboarded or at range development and listing stages with half a dozen leading players.

Furniture Clinic is a leading UK manufacturer of premium and sustainable cleaning and restoration products for home and garden furniture, classic and modern car interiors, clothing, accessories, and more. Started in 2024, the family company sells over one million products yearly to dedicated customers worldwide, specialising in the restoration of leather, fabric, and wood. The company also provides cleaning and restoration services alongside its extensive range of consumables.

Until recently however Furniture Clinic had focussed on the selling power of its own website www.furnitureclinic.co.uk to build its brand and reputation. Managing Director Ben Staerk said, “My father created the business around cleaning products for wood and leather and when I joined, I built the Furniture Clinic website and invested considerable time in SEO as our primary route to market.

The range then grew exponentially as our direct customers asked for a wider and wider variety of specialist cleaning and restoration products and we were able to develop them to meet the demand. In contrast to this rapid development, the business had not until recently been proactive in pursuing any other distribution routes, and I felt we needed to explore that potential gap. We have now been working with Daley Hub for around a year and things have certainly changed, quickly, and with considerable success.”

Furniture Clinic’s wide choice of cleaning and restoration products lend themselves to many different types of retail profile. With consumers looking to breathe new life into outdoor furniture, restore a classic car interior and bring original colour back to a jacket or handbag, their purchase destinations range from hobby specialists, to housewares stores, to DIY, automotive and supermarket multiples and marketplaces.

Having established Furniture Clinic’s ability to scale up for potential listings, Daley Hub’s first task was to prioritise the opportunities and crucially to recommend the best products with which to lead each retail pitch. As Ben explained, “The business needed help and to open doors to retailers as varied as Hobbycraft, Lakeland and Halfords, but just having the right contacts as Daley Hub does to start conversations is only part of the story. When you have a range as extensive as Furniture Clinic, you also need expertise to refine the proposition for each retail target and to advise on the most appropriate group of products to suggest as a starting point.”

Daley Hub was able to provide both the introductions and the experience to put together each pitch and Furniture Clinic is now at different stages of negotiation, onboarding and product delivery to a variety of UK multiples.

Ben concluded, “It takes a lot of work on both sides for a retailer to start working with a new supplier, so finding the right initial proposition and product offer is vital. That, and establishing mutual confidence that this the ideal starting point can then be scaled is what matters. Thankfully, Daley Hub has really helped Furniture Clinic to be in the right place with the right people at the right time, and working together as we have is really starting to pay dividends.”
